Our current view of the service

Good

Updated 3 May 2024

Hawkhurst House is a care home providing accommodation with personal care and nursing care for up to 54 people. The service provided care and support for people with a range of needs including those with high level nursing needs and those living with dementia. The service was arranged across two floors with lift access. The second floor was mainly for people living with dementia. Hawkhurst House also provides personal care for people living in their own homes within the same accommodation. These people have a tenancy agreement and a separate agreement for their care provision. The registered manager confirmed that everyone received the same level of 24 hour care and support, so we included everyone in this assessment. We carried out the on and off-site assessment on 19 December 2023, which concluded on 02 January 2024. We looked at 15 quality statements; Safeguarding; Involving people to manage risks; Safe and effective staffing; Consent to care and treatment; Assessing needs; Monitoring and improving outcomes; Delivering evidence-based care; Support to live healthier lives; How staff and services work together; Independence, choice and control; Equality in experience and outcomes; Governance; Capable, compassionate and inclusive leaders; Shared direction and culture and Freedom to speak up. At our last inspection, the service was rated requires improvement for the key questions of effective and well led. The service had made improvements since that inspection and is now rated good for all key questions.
