During a routine inspection
We saw that people's preferences and choices were made clear in their care files and there was use of pictorial representations to aid communication and understanding.
People's needs were assessed and there were individual support plans that staff followed to make sure people's needs were met. We observed the people that used the service showed they were happy with the service provided. They appeared relaxed and satisfied that their needs were being met in the way they wanted. We found the staff were very caring.
All the staff were trained to keep people safe and one person confirmed they felt safe and secure there. One member of staff told us, 'We work as a team here. If anybody was abusing people I would be report it straight away, but I think people are very safe here.'
We found that the support staff were provided with appropriate on-going training in all relevant subjects. They also had support in staff meetings and individual meetings.
The registered manager was not at the service during our visit, but there was a new manager who led the staff group and monitored people's care and support.
