At the previous inspection on 16 November 2012 we saw that hand-washing facilities and the storage of sharp and contaminated items were inadequate and good practice guidelines were not followed. After that inspection the provider sent us an action plan and evidence, including photographs, showing that improvements had been made and infection control guidelines were been followed.

At this follow-up visit in March 2013 we saw that the improvements identified in the action plan and confirmed by the evidence sent to us by the provider had been sustained and so people were safe from the risks of cross infection.

This person said that initially they had been referred to This is my: Manchester by a specialist team from their local hospital. We were told that 'The equipment is more advanced and so provided a better scan than those in the NHS.'

The person using the service also said they felt the radiographer was good at their job because: 'She was the only one who managed to get a picture.'

The person using the service told us they had returned to This is my: Manchester as a private patient because their previous experience of the service had been so positive.

We found that the service met the needs of the people who used the service; we found that the registered provider had received safeguarding training and so knew how to safeguard vulnerable adults. We found that the provider completed relevant training to remain expert in the field of ultrasound scan and relevant diagnostic procedures.

We found that the provider needed to store sharp clinical waste more safely to reduce the risk of needle stick injuries.
