Governance, management and sustainability

Regulations met

At the assessment on 9 December 2024 we found the practice had made the following improvements to comply with the regulation: Systems and processes were more established with staff. An empowered and knowledgeable practice manager had been appointed and had introduced compliance processes to improve oversight of governance systems. We saw that quality and assurance and monitoring and mitigating risk was conducted. For example, the practice had completed infection control and radiography audits. A timetable for completing required audits and servicing equipment was in place. The information and evidence presented during the assessment was clear and well documented. A fire risk assessment had been undertaken by an external provider on 21 August 2024. The practice manager had ensured that fire safety processes were effective and in line with fire safety legislation. We saw satisfactory records of servicing of equipment in line with manufacturer’s instructions including the fire alarm and emergency lighting. Staff fire safety training was undertaken and fire safety evacuation drills completed. An Electrical Installation Condition report had been undertaken on 4 August 2024 with a satisfactory outcome. Risks previously identified in the legionella risk assessment had been reviewed and mitigated. Newly appointed staff had a structured induction. The practice manager had undertaken inductions and appraisals with all staff at the practice. This included a new induction process for all long-standing working staff. Audits were undertaken in line with recognised guidance. The practice had also made further improvements. We reviewed the processes for decontamination of used dental instruments, which aligned with national guidance.
