During a routine inspection
People's needs were assessed and care and treatment was planned and delivered in line with their treatment plan. Staff completed a preparatory checklist prior to people's surgery to identify and mitigate risks during surgery. Instructions on how to prepare for surgery and how to look after yourself afterwards were discussed with people.
There was an infection control policy in place and a dedicated infection control lead that was responsible for ensuring that all protocols were followed. All staff had undertaken training in infection control and understood their responsibility in reducing the risk and spread of infection.
Staff received appropriate professional development. The provider had arrangements in place to identify staff training needs and to assess what staff needed support with.
The provider had a quality assurance process in place to identify, assess and manage risks to the health, safety and welfare of people using the service and staff. For instance there was a log in place to record accidents and incidents and complaints.
