During a routine inspection
Appropriate systems had been put in place to assess the needs of people using the service. People living in Elkin Court had participated in their needs assessments and in developing their plans of care and support. Three people told us that their needs were being met according to their stated preferences. One person told us, "The staff are there when I need them. They help with the things that I can no longer do for myself."
The three people we spoke with during our visit told us that they felt safe. One person commented, "Yes, I feel very safe here and I am confident that staff would know what to do to keep me safe from harm."
Effective systems were in place to ensure that support staff received the training and development needed to provide safe care and support to people using this service.
We found that an effective system was in place to monitor the quality of the service being provided. The views of people using the service were listened to and improvements to the service had been made where necessary. One person told us, "I like to do things for myself, but staff are always on hand if I need help with anything. I get on well with the staff. They spend time talking with me and listening to what I have to say."
