Patients participating in the assessment did not raise any concerns about unfair discrimination or treatment.

The practice leaders told us that as a smaller practice, they could provide continuity of GP to older patients, carers and patients with more complex conditions or circumstances. This enabled the clinicians to build relationships and understand barriers to care. The practice population was ethnically diverse and this was reflected in the practice team with members able to speak a range of languages. Staff explained how they could readily access interpreting services.

People were able to easily register with the practice, including people living in more vulnerable circumstances. For example, the practice registered people from a nearby hostel which provided emergency temporary accommodation for homeless patients including those with complex health issues. The practice was staffed by an all-male GP team and had put arrangements in place with a buddy practice should patients wish to consult with a female GP for any particular condition or consultation. There were systems in place for recording people’s particular needs on the patient record system, for example, their preferred form of address.
