During a routine inspection

We spoke with four patients who were visiting the practice on the day of our inspection. Each of the patients said they were happy with the doctor and that staff were helpful and respectful. Three patients confirmed that they were happy with the service they received and felt that the doctor and staff 'Explained things well', that they were "Allowed to take the lead with their treatment and care and that discussions always took place'. Further that they had 'No quarrels with the practice'. Three patients did however say that there were difficulties in telephoning the practice to make any appointment and that as they lived locally it was convenient to visit the practice to make their appointments. Once they did this there was no difficulty in getting to see a GP.

We found the practice to be clean tidy and well maintained. Disabled facilities were good with all areas of the practice being easily accessible. Consulting and treatment rooms were appropriately furnished and equipped and the design allowed for patients dignity and privacy to be maintained. We saw that contracts and maintenance arrangements were in place to maintain the equipment and fabric of the premises.

Staff had appropriate training and appraisals which demonstrated that competence was assessed and that their professional development was supported. The practice was in the process of developing audits to obtain feedback from patients regarding their experience of care and treatment.
