The Kirby Chemist Medical Practice is a private GP clinic located in Teddington High Street. The Clinic has been set up alongside a CQC registered dental practice which is on the premises. The pharmacy shop is a long-standing business, which has expanded to the rear of the building to provide consulting rooms, which are leased to a dental practice and GP practice. During this inspection we looked at the GP practice only. The clinic provides a wide range of Primary Medical Services to private patients. The service uses two clinical rooms within the dental practice.
This service is registered with CQC under the Health and Social Care Act 2008 to provide treatment of disease and disorder or injury , diagnostic and screening procedures and family planning. The clinic is registered to provide General Practice care to children and adults with a focus on well-being, nutrition and lifestyle advice and support. However, we only inspected the GP services which CQC regulate.
The practice is open 8:30am- 6pm on Monday -Friday and 9am- 3PM on Saturdays and appointments with the GPs are offered at various times throughout Monday- Saturday. Appointments are booked in advance ,though there is capacity for same day appointments or consultations if needed.
How we inspected this service
We conducted online interviews with the lead GP, practice manager and personal assistant remotely on 21 June 2022 and took a site visit on 28 June to review the premises and equipment as well as review further records.
- We looked at records related to patient assessments and the provision of care and treatment.
- Reviewed personnel files, service policies and procedures and other records concerned with running the service.
To get to the heart of patients’ experiences of care and treatment, we always ask the following five questions:
- Is it safe?
- Is it effective?
- Is it caring?
- Is it responsive to people’s needs?
- Is it well-led?
These questions therefore formed the framework for the areas we looked at during the inspection.
