Our view of the service

The Andover Health Centre Medical Practice is a GP practice and provides a range of primary medical services and is registered with the Care Quality Commission under the Health and Social Care Act 2008 to provide the following regulated activities; diagnostic and screening procedures, family planning, midwifery and maternity services, surgical procedures and treatment of disease, disorder or injury. This announced assessment was undertaken between 25 and 29 January 2024. We carried out our on-site visit on 29 January 2024. We assessed 9 quality statements under the key questions of Safe, Effective, Responsive and Well-led. This included: Learning culture, safeguarding, safe and effective staffing, medicines optimisation, assessing needs, delivering evidence-based care and treatment, how staff, teams and services work together, equity in experience and outcomes and governance, management and sustainability. During our assessment, we found concerns around the management of people’s medicines, care and treatment for people with long-term conditions and people affected by safety alerts which resulted in 3 breaches of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014 in relation to Safe care and treatment, Staffing and Good governance. Following this assessment, the overall rating for The Andover Health Centre Medical Practice has changed from Good to Requires Improvement. People's experience of this service

Feedback from people, relatives and professionals who worked closely with the service and the overall experience of using the service was positive, particularly in relation to person-centred care, people felt listened to and were treated with dignity and respect.
