Schoolacre Road Surgery (also known as SchoolacreSurgery) is located at 2 Schoolacre Road, Shard End, Birmingham, West Midlands, B34 6RB. Dr Caterina Sterlini and Dr Annie Bangash are the registered providers, registered with CQC since April 2013 to deliver the Regulated Activities; diagnostic and screening procedures, family planning, maternity and midwifery services, surgical procedures and treatment of disease, disorder or injury. We carried out an announced assessment of one quality statement equity of access, under the key question responsive on 15 February 2024. Overall, the practice is rated as good overall and the key question responsive continues to be rated as providing a good service. We carried out the assessment as part of our work to understand how practices are working to try to meet peoples demands for access and to better understand the experiences of people who use services and providers. We recognise the work that GP practices have been engaged in to continue to provide safe, quality care to the people they serve. We know staff are carrying this out whilst the demand for general practice remains exceptionally high, with more appointments being provided than ever. However, this challenging context, access to general practice remains a concern for people. Our strategy makes a commitment to deliver regulation driven by people’s needs and experiences of care. The assessment of the quality statement equity of access includes looking at what practices are doing innovatively to improve patient access to primary care and sharing this information to drive improvement. We found that the practice had organised services to meet patients’ needs, particularly those who were most likely to have difficulty accessing care. The practice used feedback and other information to monitor and improve access.

People's experience of the service

Updated 8 February 2024

In the 2023 National GP Patient Survey, the practice’s results were consistently above local and national average, for questions relating to access. The practice regularly monitored patient satisfaction with access, this included participation in an in house survey facilitated by the practice's primary care network (PCN). The practice took part in the NHS Friends and Family Test (FFT), analysing responses to monitor satisfaction and drive improvement. Evidence reviewed demonstrated that 85% of the 48 patients who responded to the survey in January 2024 would recommend the practice to friends of family. Reviews on the NHS website were also positive.
