Ashfield Medical Centre, also known as Dr Walling and Partners, is a GP training practice located across two sites in the Crossgates and Seacroft areas of Leeds. As part of our inspection we visited both sites.
Main Site - 15 Austhorpe Road, Crossgates, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS15 8BA
Branch Site - Grange Medical Centre, 999 York Rd, Leeds, LS14 6NX.
The provider is registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) to deliver the regulated activities; treatment of disease disorder or injury, diagnostic and screening procedures, surgical procedures, maternity and midwifery services and family planning.
The practice provides primary care services, under the terms of a Personal Medical Services (PMS) contract, for approximately 6,875 patients. This is a contract between general practices and NHS England for delivering services to the local community.
There are seven permanent doctors including four salaried doctor (2 male and 5 female) at the practice who registered with the CQC in April 2013. They are supported by three practice nurses, two healthcare assistants and an experienced administrative team.
Approximately 20% of patients registered with the practice are aged under 18 years. Patients aged over 65 years account for approximately 19% of the registered practice population. These percentages are similar to the average for all GP practices in England. Income deprivation indices affecting children and older people are both similar to England averages.
When we returned to the practice for this inspection, we checked, and saw that the previously awarded ratings were displayed, as required, in both the practice premises. The overall rating was displayed on the practice website with a link to the inspection report.
