During a routine inspection
People experienced care, treatment and support that met their needs and protected their rights. We found evidence that the service provides the care and support which people want in order to enable them to live their lives as independently as possible and in the style of their choosing.
People told us about the ways in which staff supported them to maintain relationships of their choice and to access facilities in the community. The records showed how people had been encouraged to set goals which staff had enabled them to achieve.
People felt well supported by staff. One person told us, 'If I need them for anything I just ring up and they organise it with the staff'. Another told us, 'If I get upset I can talk to staff and they will help me sort it out.'
There were good arrangements for keeping people safe. These included checks on the background of staff, information for staff and people using the service about how to identify and report abuse and staff training.
Staff received appropriate training and support so that they were well equipped to carry out their roles. Staff told us that they were very well supported by their managers and the organisation and that they worked in an open and enabling culture.
There were good arrangements for monitoring the performance and for planning for the future. This made sure that standards were maintained and improved upon where possible.
