Updated 4 February 2025
This responsive assessment was carried out in response to concerns we received about people’s care and good governance. We carried out a site visit to the care home on 7th February 2025 as part of the assessment. This assessment was carried out by an assessor, an inspector and a regulatory coordinator. Assessment activity started on 3 February 2025 and ended on 28 February 2024. We looked at 10 quality statements as part of this assessment.
Sheringham House is a residential care home providing accommodation with personal care for up to 5 people living with a learning disability. At the time of this assessment, 2 people were living at the service. People living in the home have their own bedrooms and there are shared communal spaces, including lounges, a kitchen and a garden area. We spoke with the home manager, 5 staff, 1 person living at the home and 2 relatives as part of this assessment.
We expect health and social care providers to guarantee people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices and independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted. ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ is the guidance CQC follows to make assessments and judgements about services supporting people with a learning disability and autistic people and providers must have regard to it.
