At the time of the assessment, the service was supporting 18 people with their personal care needs. West Lodge Care Home was last rated requires improvement (published 19 December 2024). At our last assessment we found improvement was needed and the service was in breach of legal regulations in relation to need for consent, safe care and treatment, staffing and good governance. At this assessment we found improvements had been made and the service was no longer in breach of legal regulations. We found a clear process and system to ensure the Mental Capacity Act was followed and risk management plans had been put into place to ensure people were receiving safe care and treatment. We observed sufficient staffing during our visit to meet people’s needs. The provider had ensured staff had completed any required training to ensure they had the skills and competencies to carry out their role. A new manager had been recruited who had implemented new systems and processes to ensure there was effective oversight of the service.
