Avengers Prime Care provide care to people in their own homes. The services specialises in providing personal care to children and adults with complex health conditions. Personal care includes the preparation of meals. Staff knew people’s needs and had received appropriate training in order to help ensure people were well cared for. Staff were given sufficient time with people and they told us the registered manager ensured they did not work too many shifts in a row in order that they remain alert and able to provide good quality care. Staff were able to describe how they kept people safe. This included following guidance in people’s care plans around their health risks as well as being able to recognise and report signs of potential abuse. Staff followed good infection control processes and were supported by the registered manager through regular supervisions as well as team meetings. Staff were recruited through robust recruitment processes and they had an induction and shadowed more experienced staff when first commencing in the role. Although staff did tell us they felt they would have benefitted from more shadowing sessions in the first instance. Staff understood the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and how to give people’s choices, support them to make their own decisions and to remain independent. Staff supported people to access external activities of their choosing and they consistently looked for ways to improve people’s lives. The registered manager carried out on-going monitoring of the service and its staff through governance arrangements, spot checks, surveys and individual meetings. They strove to provide good, consistent care to people and they had a clear vision of how they wished people to view their service.

People's experience of the service

Updated 23 July 2024

People told us they were happy with the care they received. They said they saw consistent staff and that staff knew them well and supported them to be involved in their care. People said staff listened to them and respected their decisions, however one person did comment that they did not always feel listened to by the registered manager. People had the opportunity to express their wishes and they told us staff attended to their needs promptly.
