During a routine inspection
The provider, Shropshire Community Health NHS Trust, works closely with other healthcare organisations, as part of overall prison healthcare services. Some of these services are managed entirely by the trust, and others involve a shared responsibility with the prison or other healthcare organisations.
We observed that staff spoke respectfully to people, took measures to ensure their dignity and wherever possible gave them information to make choices.
People generally were positive about their healthcare particularly on reception and initial assessment. Some concerns were raised about not getting to appointments and waiting for medication, but it was noted that some of these concerns were outside healthcare staff's control.
We found that there was a good range of clinical support and that healthcare staff worked well with partner healthcare organisations.
There were good systems in place to monitor the service provision and any concerns raised were responded to promptly.
