St Andrews Ward
All Inspections
4 December 2012
During a routine inspection
There were leaflets on the ward about various health conditions, people's rights and local facilities. Each person who was admitted to the ward also received an 'Information welcome pack.' This ensured that people had easy access to information to assist them to make decisions.
To ensure that everyone's needs were met, and their level of risk was kept up dated, the ward held a multidisciplinary meeting each morning. All people using the ward were discussed at this meeting and care plans were up dated. This made sure that staff had up to date information about each person and the care that they required.
People we spoke with said that they felt safe on the ward. We observed that staff spoke with people in a friendly and respectful manner. One person said 'staff are lovely, they respect privacy and they respect us.'
People were very complimentary about the staff on the ward. Comments included 'staff are all very kind,' and 'they are very nice and have helped me a lot.'
The ward had systems in place to effectively monitor the standard of care provided.
