Condition of this registration relating to carrying out this regulated activity
The registered provider must within 30 days of this condition taking effect devise and implement an effective system to ensure that the risk and incidence of behaviours that are perceived as challenging to service users themselves or others at Baytree House are appropriately identified, analysed and managed. A report of the findings and associated actions from the monthly incident audits must be sent to the CQC on the last working day of every month after this condition takes effect.
a) Competency assessments which identify staff conducting the incident analysis at Baytree House have the training, skills and experience to carry out effective analysis and act on any improvements required.
b) Your monthly audit which identifies there is oversight and monitoring of staff’s actions when service users have experienced incidents of emotional distress to ensure timely, appropriate and safe care has been provided.
The registered provider must within 30 days of this condition taking effect devise and implement an effective system to train and monitor the skills and competencies of staff in relation to service users’ specific needs, positive behaviour support and safeguarding. A report of the progress and associated actions must be sent to the CQC on the last working day of every month after this condition takes effect. The report will include:
a) Training records which identify managers and staff who have received training to support people with learning disabilities and autistic spectrum condition from a reputable provider with current knowledge of best practice.
b) Training records which identify managers and staff have received training to use positive behaviour support and the communication tools and systems to support service users.
c) Training records which identify managers and staff have received training and be competent to identify and report abusive or restrictive practices.
d) Incident reports with actions taken and lessons learnt.
The Registered Provider must within 30 days of this condition taking effect
undertake a full review and evaluation of their quality assurance systems at Baytree House to determine their effectiveness. As part of the review and evaluation, consideration must be made to the following:
a). The quality assurance processes in operation at Baytree House are fit for
purpose and are person-centered.
b). Staff conducting the quality assurance processes at Baytree House have the skills and experience to identify shortfalls and act on any improvements required.
The registered provider must within 45 days undertake quality audits in relation to the following:
a). Care Planning and Risk assessments to include specific health risks e.g. risks associated with Dementia and eating and drinking.
b). Infection Control Practice
c). Premises and Equipment to include fire safety
d). Medicine systems to include management of PRN medicines
e). Staff induction, training and supervision
The registered provider must send to the commission within fourteen days of the audits being undertaken, a report of actions detailing the results and analysis of audits. The report should include actions identified to address shortfalls and timescales.
Thereafter the action plan should be reviewed and updated to reflect monthly audits and sent to the commission on the last working day of every month after this condition takes effect.
