Royal Court Care Home is a residential care home, supporting older people, some of whom were living with dementia. At the time of our inspection 25 people were living at the service. We carried out an assessment of this service on 5 September 2024. This assessment was to follow up on previous enforcement action we had taken against the service. Previously we were concerned about people’s safety, relating to managing risks, medicines and infection, prevention and control. We were also concerned about a lack of person centred care and ineffective governance. During this assessment, we found that significant improvements had been made. The provider had worked closely with the local authority and had addressed all concerns found at our last inspection. New governance systems and a new management structure had been effective in making improvements. Risks posed to people were now assessed and mitigated. Medicines were safely managed. Refurbishment had taken place and the provider had purchased various new furniture items and equipment, domestic staff hours were increased and infection, prevention and control was now safely managed. A new staffing structure had improved the culture within the service and people were receiving person centred care. Some improvements were required to ensure care records were robust, the provider had recognised this and was in the process of implementing a new digital system. This was a recording concern, and we found no impact to people. We received positive feedback from external professionals and agencies who worked with the service, about the improvements which had been made.
