Chislehurst, also known as The South London Private GP, is a private general practice offering a range of services to patients such as routine medical checks, health screening, private prescriptions, baby and childhood development checks, full range of childhood immunisations.
The service had only been operating for three months when we inspected.
The service employs eight members of staff which includes three (male), two (female) GPs, who are all registered with the General Medical Council GMC and are on the GP register, a phlebotomist (female), an operations manager and two administrators. All staff work part time on a rota basis.
The service is delivered from 59 Chislehurst Road Chislehurst BR7 5NP. The clinic is a short walking distance from Chislehurst train station. The service is open Monday to Friday 9am to 6pm and Saturday 9am-1pm. Same day, telephone and home visits (within catchment) are provided.
Chislehurst shares its location with a community pharmacist and dental practice.
There is one GP clinical room on the lower ground floor, the service also has access to another clinical room on the ground floor which is available for those with mobility difficulties. The service sees children and adults.

The team was led by a CQC inspector, accompanied by a GP specialist advisor. Before the inspection, we reviewed notifications received about the service, and a standard information questionnaire completed by the service. During the inspection, we interviewed staff, made observations and reviewed documents.
How we inspected this service
Throughout the pandemic CQC has continued to regulate and respond to risk. However, taking into account the circumstances arising as a result of the pandemic, and in order to reduce risk, we have conducted our inspections differently.
This inspection was carried out in a way which enabled us to spend a minimum amount of time on site. This was with consent from the provider and in line with all data protection and information governance requirements.
We carried out this inspection on 23 February 2022. The inspection was led by a CQC inspector who was accompanied by a GP specialist advisor. Before visiting, we looked at a range of information that we hold about the service. We reviewed information submitted by the service in response to our provider information request. During our visit we interviewed staff (the lead doctor) observed practice and reviewed documents.
To get to the heart of patients’ experiences of care and treatment, we asked the following questions:
- Is it safe?
- Is it effective?
- Is it caring?
- Is it responsive to people’s needs?
- Is it well-led?
These questions therefore formed the framework for the areas we looked at during the inspection.
