Date of assessment: 2 September to 20 September 2024. We completed the assessment of The Old Downs Residential Dementia Care Home following concerns about risk management and the support people received. We assessed all the quality statements within the safe and well led key questions. We found the service was providing a good standard of care and support. Potential risks to people’s health and welfare had been assessed and there was guidance in place to mitigate the risks. People were protected from avoidable harm and discrimination, staff understood their responsibilities to report concerns. Accidents and incidents were recorded and analysed to identify patterns and trends. People’s medicines were managed safely, staff received training and supervision to meet people’s needs and were recruited safely. The provider monitored the quality of the service, when shortfalls were identified, action had been taken to rectify them.
