The provider had systems in place to regularly assess and monitor the quality of the care provided. Staff told us they would report any concerns to their manager. People and staff felt that management were very supportive. Staff told us they felt valued and supported.

Staff were encouraged to voice their concerns or feedback about the service. The provider actively sought, encouraged and supported people's, relatives and staff involvement in the improvement of the service.

We saw the registered manager and leadership team spent time engaging with people during our assessment and clearly knew people well. Staff told us that the culture of the service was friendly, and the staff team worked well together. Staff were encouraged to progress and there were schemes in place to reward staff. One member of staff said, “They ask us if we want to become seniors and they motivate us to go up the ladder.” Staff were also positive about the management of the home and how well staff worked as a team. The registered manager told us, “You should be very approachable, everyone is involved in decisions so reflective learning is involved. Triggers, actions and mitigation plans. They all contribute to the main aim of ensuring people have good care.”

There was a comprehensive system of audits that were being used to improve the quality of care. People's, relatives and staff feedback about how to improve the service was sought. Surveys were each year and any actions needed would be addressed. People and relatives confirmed they attended regular meetings and were asked their views on the running of the service. One member of staff said, “I can speak up about anything here.” The registered manager told us, “We have a service improvement plan. The carers will report maintenance issues. The health and safety audit will identify issues. We put them all into the service improvement plan and work towards that.”

Staff told us there was good communication between staff and the management team and they had handover meetings where they exchanged information about people. Staff were positive about the management at the service with comments including, “I feel supported. You can talk to them [leadership team]. Its confidential” and “They are amicable and open to suggestions and help.” The registered manager told us of the provider, “[Provider] is such a positive impact to the home. The knowledge she is providing in terms of the clinical knowledge is really great and supportive. This has had a positive impact on people.”
