Caring
People and relatives spoke positively about the care staff and confirmed they were supported with their independence, choice and control. There were no restrictions on visiting and so people could see their families and friends whenever they wanted. People were involved in discussions about their care, and people were supported with their communication needs.

Independence, choice and control
People spoke positively about the care staff and told us they were given choice with daily decisions, such as when they wanted to get up and when they wanted to go to bed. Relatives told us people were given independence, choice and control as far as possible.
Staff told us about how they supported people to make choices on a daily basis. Leaders explained how people were supported to have choice and control of their care and make their own decisions. Staff spoke about the caring nature of the team. One staff member told us, "I believe that we are extremely caring, as a team across the board and aim to put the resident first always."
Kind and caring interactions were observed, and people were given choice. There were no restrictions on visitors. There was an activities schedule in place including activities with people on a one-to-one basis.
Systems were in place to support people's independence and encourage people to have choice and control. Staff were observed giving people choice throughout the visits. There were no restrictions on visiting so people could see their friends and families whenever they wanted. Relatives were made to feel welcome at the home. People were involved in discussions about every aspect of their support plans via the 'resident of the day' initiative. This gave people an opportunity to discuss their care, choices and needs with staff from each department within the service. People were supported with their communication needs through picture boards and easy read documentation. People had access to activities, including animal therapy, keep fit classes and one-to-one activities.
