During an assessment under our new approach

We carried out this on-site, announced assessment on 14 October 2024. We found the practice had not met all regulations. At the time of our assessment, patients could access care, support and treatment when required. However, there was a lack of effective leadership and not all risks associated with undertaking of regulated activities had been suitably identified and mitigated. We noted that the internal fire risk assessment did not identify risks such as the Electrical Installation Condition Report showing as unsatisfactory and emergency lighting had not been serviced. Recruitment processes and processes for overseeing ongoing performance and training were not effective. This service is registered with CQC under the Health and Social Care Act 2008 in respect of some, but not all, of the services it provides. There are some exemptions from regulation by CQC which relate to particular types of regulated activities and services and these are set out in Schedule 1 and Schedule 2 of The Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014. The service provides non-surgical cosmetic treatments, some of which are not in-scope such as certain facial aesthetics procedures. The practice is in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire and provides NHS and private dental care and treatment for adults and children. There was step free access to the practice and car parking spaces, including dedicated parking for disabled people, were available near the practice. The practice had 6 treatment rooms. During the assessment we spoke with 3 dentists, 1 dental nurse, 2 receptionists, the practice manager and the business manager. The provider was not complying with all regulations. Full details of the regulation the provider was not meeting are within the quality statement section of the report. We have asked the provider for an action plan in response to the concerns found at this assessment.

25 April 2013

During a routine inspection

We visited Bridge Dental Practice on 25 April 2013, where we spoke with a range of staff including the principle dentist and the practice manager.

We gathered evidence of people's experiences through telephoning five people following our visit.

People we spoke with said they were happy with the service they received. They told us that the dentist discussed the options available to them for any treatment they might require. They told us the dentist would use a range of methods to explain the options available.

People we spoke with told us that staff were caring and considered their anxieties. They told us all the staff were supportive and considered their needs.

People we spoke with told us they had not needed to raise any concerns but knew how to complain. They told us they would speak to the staff if they were unhappy with anything and were confident their concerns would be resolved. We saw there was information available in the reception areas which gave people information on how to make a complaint.

People we spoke with told us that the surgery and reception area looked clean and they were satisfied with the standards of cleanliness. They also told us that staff always wore personal protective equipment.

We saw a suggestion box was available for people within the reception area and their responses were reviewed by the provider.

People's personal records including medical records were accurate and fit for purpose.
