Our view of the service

Date of assessment 3 March 2024 to 15 April 2024 Support at Home is a domiciliary care service providing personal care to people living in their own homes. At the time of the inspection 42 people were receiving personal care and support with their medicines. Not everyone who used the service received personal care. CQC only inspects where people receive personal care. This is help with tasks related to personal hygiene and eating. Where they do we also consider any wider social care provided. We received information that indicated that improvements may have been needed in relation to the management of people’s medicines and those in receipt of personal care. We assessed a total of 4 quality statements from the safe and well-led key questions and found no areas of concern. We spoke with 5 people/family members. Ten staff and the registered manager. We reviewed care planning documents of 5 people who were in receipt of personal care and medicines support. In addition, we observed the electronic monitoring system whilst it was in use and reviewed policies and procedures relevant to this assessment. The service was safe and well-led. We found that appropriate systems were in place to promote the safe management of people’s medicines. The service had recently reviewed their procedures, assessment and care planning documents in relation to medicines management and following the review, implemented further information gathering tools around supporting people with their medicines. Staff had received training for their role in administering people’s medicines and regular checks and reviews took place to monitor the service people received in relation to personal care and medicines management.
