Equity in experiences and outcomes
People were not able to comment on their equity in experiences and outcomes, however people were positive about their experience of living at the home and described staff supporting them to achieve personal aims. For example, one person described staff supporting them to learn how to shop online so they could order clothes.
Staff were knowledgeable about the provider’s equality and diversity plan and supported people in the least restrictive way possible. Staff could describe different types of discrimination and told us they would be comfortable raising concerns with the management team.
The provider had appropriate policies in place to support people equity such as equality and diversity and human rights policies. Care plans identified barriers to people achieving their aims and objectives and support and guidance was planned with people’s involvement to overcome those barriers. For example, one person wanted to go out into the community alone but told staff they were afraid to be around to many people. Staff had supported the person to find a route that they felt comfortable with and a developed a response system so they could contact staff whilst out on their own if needed.
