Caring
People were supported to have maximum choice and control of their lives and staff supported them in the least restrictive way possible and in their best interests; the policies and systems in the service supported this practice. People told us staff were kind.

Responding to people’s immediate needs
People who were cared for in bed had regular visits from staff to ensure they were okay. Staff were observed chatting with people, staff never walked by without ensuring someone was okay. People were supported at mealtimes to eat and drink. Staff were available to offer extra encouragement to people to eat and we observed staff chatting to people and sitting with them during the meal.
The registered manager told us they do a ‘walk around’ to ensure that staff were responding to people’s needs when required. Staff told us the registered manager was available to support.
People told us the staff helped them when required. Comments from people included, “The staff help me when I need them to” and, “They (staff) are so good, always about when I need them.” A relative said, “I am happy with the staff. I have no concerns that they support [name] when they needed.”
