Equity in experiences and outcomes
We received some feedback that improved communication and meetings would enable people and their relatives to share feedback about the care provided and understand how feedback was acted upon. However, people and relatives told us the service made reasonable adjustments as required. For example, sourcing specialist equipment and aids.
Staff and leaders confirmed they had received equality and diversity training. They explained a 6-page profile within people’s care plans detailed key information about people’s diverse needs, and support needed to remove any barriers. This was able to be shared to support people to access services, such as in the event of an emergency.
Relevant policies were in place to protect people from discrimination and staff had received training in equality, diversity and human rights. People’s care records showed accessibility needs were assessed and any barriers were identified to improve people’s experience. For example, any adaptive aids people required to access the service, or information.
