Our view of the service

The Yews Residential Care Home provides residential care for up to 40 people. At the time of our assessment 36 people were using the service. We completed this assessment between 24 July and 28 August 2024. We visited the service on the 24 July 2024. We spoke with 1 person’s representative and 7 people that were using the service. At the last inspection this location was rated as good. We assessed 16 quality statements under the key questions of Safe, Effective and Well Led. We assessed these 16 quality statements as Good and the overall rating for the service remains Good.

People's experience of this service

People and the person’s representative we spoke with were positive about the support people received from the staff team. People told us they felt safe with the staff and that the staff supported them when needed. People told us their needs were met by staff who knew them well. People were supported by sufficient numbers of trained staff who were recruited safely to meet their needs. People were protected from the risk of abuse and told us they felt the safe at the service. Risks to people had been assessed and reviewed on a regular basis. People were supported to have maximum choice and control of their lives and staff supported them in the least restrictive way possible and in their best interests; the policies and systems in the service supported this practice. People were supported to pursue hobbies of interest to them and maintain relationships with people who were important to them. Care plans provided information about people's choices and preferences. Staff received relevant training, and this was updated as required. Staff worked with external professionals to ensure people’s holistic needs were met. The management team ensured that the views of people using the service and their loved ones were sought, to enable improvements to be made as required. Audits were undertaken to monitor the service provided and make improvements when needed.
