Independence, choice and control
People’s care plans set out how staff could support people with their independence. The provider involved other professionals, when needed, to make sure people had the support and equipment they required to remain as independent as possible.
People were able to personalise their rooms to reflect their individual personalities and likes.
Staff knew people well and were able to tell us how they offered people choices. This included verbal communication and observing body language. Staff told us they promoted independence for people. This included supporting people at the care home and in the community.
People benefitted from a registered manager and staff team who were committed to supporting people with new skills and experiences. Staff went the extra mile to help people to fulfil their personal goals and this had resulted in excellent outcomes for some people. Relatives felt staff promoted independence to enhance people’s quality of life. This included supporting people with activities of their choosing.
